Fortress Nutrition is actively hiring for a 1^st Shift Custodian to maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout our facility, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for our employees and products.

Standard Schedule:

1^st Shift (8:00am-4:30pm), Monday-Friday, OT and weekends as needed



Job Summary: Working as part of the Operations team and under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Custodian is responsible for maintaining the general cleanliness of our facilities including manufacturing and warehouse businesses. This position is integral to maintaining compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

What You'll Do:

• Perform general labor tasks, such as sweeping, cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, washing and stocking supplies, as outlined in Master Cleaning Schedule.


• Clean restrooms and locker rooms, including scrubbing toilets, mopping floors, wiping sinks, mirrors and vanity surfaces.


• Clean employee cafeteria and workspaces, including offices, lab areas, production/warehouse and other common areas.


• Remove trash and recyclables from all areas.


• Maintain outside areas around building (ex. spread ice melting compounds on sidewalks as needed, maintain cleanliness and tidiness of outside building perimeter, etc, weather permitting)


• Minor repair work to facilities


• Report safety, sanitation, and fire hazards to supervisor, maintenance and/or staff person in charge of facilities/safety


• Other indoor and outdoor general cleaning tasks as needed


• Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning chemicals and proper chemical storage


• Clean and maintain janitorial equipment and tools


• Complete and maintain all required cleaning documents, logs and records


• Complete special projects as needed


• Cross-train to serve as backup for completing highest priority tasks in the absence of other Custodians


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What We're Looking For:

• 1+ years of previous custodial / janitorial work experience preferred


• Previous experience working in a food, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility preferred


• Knowledge of cleaning & sanitation chemicals and their proper use preferred


• Comfortable using cleaning-related equipment


• Experience using personal protective equipment


• Punctuality and reliability are a must


• Honesty and exceptional work ethic


• Ability to solve problems


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others


• Ability to easily adapt to changes in priorities


• Ability to follow work instructions


• Exceptional attention to detail and values maintaining a clean work environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach above shoulders with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk or hear; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, use foot/feet to operate equipment.


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

• Ability to work with a variety of cleaning products
