Job summary

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) in Byesville, OH is hiring for a core materials handler responsible for supplying core to customers safely and efficiently. You will identify and pull core, operate hand and air tools, read gauges, and possibly obtain a forklift license.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in material handling, and teamwork in a manufacturing setting. Starting pay is $19.55/hr with up to $27.59/hr top pay, plus quarterly gainsharing and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED; college education a plus.
• Ability to identify part numbers and core products.
• Ability to operate hand and air tools and read gauges.
• Forklift license may be required.
• Stand and lift up to 50 pounds; repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties with lifting and tool use.
• Improve safety, quality, attendance, productivity and housekeeping.
• Use computer systems to access data, drawings, BOMs, and specs.
• Identify, receive, locate, count and pull core.
• Package, label and distribute core to proper location.
• Load/unload shipments; operate forklift as needed.

Inside the Role

This position is responsible to supply core material to all external and in house customers in a safe and timely manner with as little cost as possible. Identify, receive, locate, count, and pull core. Must be able to identify and retain to memory part numbers and core products. Must have the ability to operate hand tools, air tools, and read gauges. May be required to obtain forklift license.

What You Drive at DTNA

• Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties including: repetitive processes, moderate to heavy lifting, the use of machinery, and following standardized work procedures
• Actively participate in improving work area in terms of safety, quality, attendance, productivity, suggestion activities, housekeeping, and throughput
• Use computer systems to access company data associated with the assembly process, utilize drawings, bills of materials and specification sheets in both electronic and hard copy
• Ability to operate hand tools and small power tools in a safe and nondestructive manner.
• May be required to load/unload shipments (forklift license required).

• Operate wrenches, air tools, and gauges
• Ability to identify numbers and retain to memory
• Ability to properly package, label, and distribute to proper location
• Ship core that is required to complete different processes throughout the plant or returned for core credit
• Knowledge of computers, tablets, printers, and scanners.
• Operate hoist, hand tools, forklift, hand truck, and picker.
• Properly identify component parts by learning identification numbers
• Adhere to established work rotation plan
• Complete training matrix for each rotation position
• Ability to read and understand Work Station Instructions
• Other tasks and/or duties as requested

Knowledge You Should Bring

• Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation, grasping and supporting power tools
• Must be able to stand on concrete for entire shift with repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds .
• Understanding of all types of applicable measuring equipment for part validation
• Ability to work in a repetitive motion environment
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently (option to use hoist)
• Read, understand and complete documentation
• Willingness to cross-train throughout the area
• Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently
• Ability to work overtime when necessary
• Established satisfactory attendance record and performance rating
• Must maintain a clean work area.
• Meet quality standards and implement continuous improvement measures
• Cross train on other jobs as required

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

• Previous experience in a manufacturing (automotive/trucking) environment
• Previous mechanical experience
• High School Diploma / GED preferred and further college education a plus
