Job summary

Johnson Controls in Largo, FL is seeking a skilled Brazer to join our 1st shift manufacturing team. You will perform brazing and testing on copper components and refrigerant systems, ensuring leak-free joints and conformance to quality standards.

Key duties include reading blueprints, following SOPs, maintaining a clean workspace, and collaborating across teams to meet production goals. Prior brazing/welding experience is preferred; training is provided to qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety documents, and technical instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to complete JCI Brazer training within 30 days of hire.
• Prior brazing, soldering, or welding experience (preferred).
• Military experience or technical training in the armed forces (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform brazing operations using a gas torch on copper components.
• Join coils, headers, and valve pack materials following detailed instructions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop orders.
• Inspect brazed joints and perform first-article inspections to ensure quality.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace (5S).
• Follow safety procedures, including PPE usage, SOPs, and JSAs.
• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals.
• Communicate effectively regarding safety, quality, process, or equipment issues.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies and problem-solving opportunities.
• Use ERP and Microsoft Office to track production and inventory.
• Support overtime and cross-training between departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
