1st-Shift Behavioral Health Technician — Therapeutic Care

Job summary

STR Bucks is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support clients across 1st shift Friday–Monday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. You will help maintain a therapeutic milieu, document in client records, and collaborate with clinicians to implement interventions.

A strong focus on safety, boundaries, and crisis response is essential. The role requires experience with substance use and mental health clients, CPR/First Aid, and a willingness to complete BHT and CPI training.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred, drug and alcohol certification preferred or willing to complete within orientation.
• 2+ years experience working with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
• 1 year supervision experience.
• Valid/clean driving record for 3-5 years.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to complete within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with clinical team to determine interventions based on client needs.
• Engages clients in milieu and activities throughout the workday.
• Prompts clients to complete ADLs and conducts room hygiene checks.
• Conducts drug screening, pregnancy tests, and breathalyzers as needed.
• Maintains therapeutic environment and boundary-appropriate interactions.
• Documents services, incidents, shift/group notes timely and accurately.
• Assists with admissions, discharge, and daily safety procedures.
• Responds to crises using DBT-informed approaches and de-escalation as needed.
