Overview

We've had huge growth in our Welding Department in 2025! Looking to add several team members to our 2nd shift (limited 1st shift availability).

We’re seeking MANUAL TUBE WELDERS who demonstrate a strong work ethic, dependability, and alignment with our company values. A typical day involves welding components onto tubes for various applications including air filtration, exhaust, and other metal tubes across different industries. As a job shop, you'll work on a variety of parts daily.

Shift Options:

  • 1st shift: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm (OT on Fridays, expect to work Fridays)
  • 2nd shift: Monday-Thursday 4:20pm-2:50am (OT on Fridays, expect to work Fridays)

Responsibilities

MEC has been named the largest metal fabricator in the nation for 14 consecutive years. We are a growing manufacturing company with over 75 years of history, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery.

What you will be doing as a MANUAL WELDER:

  • Verify correct filler metal using setup sheets and change as needed.
  • Adjust weld gas flow according to WPS instructions.
  • Set up manual weld machines or download programs as per setup sheets.
  • Ensure proper tooling is installed in robots or staged in manual areas.
  • Review weld requirements from prints (size, spacing, location, ECT).
  • Load and position parts into tooling per print and work instructions.
  • Weld parts according to customer prints.
  • Remove weld spatter and scale from finished parts.
  • Rework parts to meet customer specifications, including grinding if necessary.
  • Perform quality checks as per setup sheets.
  • Maintain welding equipment and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Set up and operate robotic weld cells.
Qualifications

What it takes to be a MANUAL WELDER with MEC:

  • High school diploma or GED, or one year of related experience/training preferred.
  • Ability to train, communicate, and collaborate effectively.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • AWS certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Ability to calculate rate, ratio, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ethical behavior and integrity.
  • Reliability.
