Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education is required with valid teaching certificate from North Carolina in the area for which candidate is applying.
• Alternatives include a Bachelor’s degree in another subject with an approved plan for Lateral Entry with an Initial Teacher License.
• The Roger Bacon Academy will assist selected candidates through the lateral-entry process.
• Ability to teach a large class of diverse learners and remain on their feet throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Attend all professional development and training sessions to learn effective instructional methods and curricula.
• Take charge of the classroom and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
• Welcome students enthusiastically and begin instruction on schedule.
• Teach and enforce classroom rules during transitions and activities.
• Review schedules, pacing, and goals before each subject period.
• Instruct with Classical Direct Instruction as the primary method.
• End instruction on time and transition smoothly to the next activity.
• Grade and tutor students as needed and track progress with provided assessment tools.
• Communicate regularly with parents about academic progress and involve them when appropriate
• Perform administrative duties and participate in staff meetings as required.
