Job summary

Master Boat Builders, Inc. is seeking a 1st Class Structural Welder to contribute to the construction of marine vessels and structural components. Role focuses on high-quality welds and structural integrity. Overtime options are available, with built-in overtime and additional overtime for interested employees.

Full-time schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM; Friday 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Successful candidates must pass 3g vertical and 4g overhead weld tests and meet production standards.

Description

The 1st Class Structural Welder will be pivotal in the construction and assembly of marine vessels and other structural components. This role will be contributing to the structural integrity and functionality of marine projects.

The schedule for this role has 6 hours of built in overtime. Additional overtime is typically available for those interested.

Full Time Position: Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM and Friday 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Successful candidates will pass a Open-Butt V-Groove Weld Test in the 3g vertical/4g overhead position(s).

Key Responsibilities
  • Welding Functions: Perform various welding tasks, including Frame Tacking, Non-Watertight Butts, Butt Welding, Pick-up Welding, with a focus on producing consistent, high-quality welds.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate close with other welders, pipe fitters, and supervisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Structural Welder in shipbuilding or maritime construction (3 years of prior experience preferred).
  • Must be able to pass and certify on 3g (vertical) and 4g (overhead).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform various welding functions with precision.
  • Capable of handling a physical workload and working in various positions.
  • Ability to consistently produce welds that meet quality and production standards.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Additional technical training or certification in welding, fabrication, or shipbuilding preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and push heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to conduct production in confined spaces.
  • Physical agility and dexterity to perform tasks such as bending, squatting, stooping, crawling and kneeling.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to conduct production from heights greater than five feet while working from manlifts and wearing the proper PPE such as fall arrest systems.
  • Ability to climb ladders and transverse stairs when needed.
  • Able to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands.
Work Environment
  • The employee is regularly exposed to humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The employee could be exposed to environments that have high noise levels.
Safety
  • Must comply with company, state, federal, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing job tasks as assigned by leadership.
