Legacy Industries is seeking 12 skilled 1st Class Ship Fitters / Structural Fitters to join our Field Operations team. In this full-time role, you will fit and assemble steel structures on marine vessels including tugboats, push boats, and small barges.

We offer weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package, with overtime opportunities and paid training. Candidates must pass a drug test, and on-site work at our LA shipyard is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of shipyard/marine structural fitting experience.
• Able to read blueprints and construction specifications.
• Skilled in burning, beveling, and steel fabrication using hand torches.
• Must pass a drug test and physical.
• Onsite skills will be tested during evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble steel structures for marine vessels.
• Lay out and fabricate steel components to specification.
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble steel structures for marine vessels

• Burn, wash, and bevel steel with hand torches
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications
• Measure, cut, and install structural plate, pipe, beams, and related components
• Conduct quality inspections on assembled parts
• Adhere strictly to safety and quality standards on site

Qualifications

• 1+ years of shipyard, marine structural fitting, structural steel fitting, barge repair, vessel fabrication, or closely related heavy fabrication experience.
• Understanding of shipyard terminology and vessel structure
• Skilled in burning, beveling, and steel fabrication using hand torches
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Must pass a drug test and physical
• No formal education or certifications required; skills will be tested onsite
