Job summary

Gregg County seeks an experienced auditor to perform county-wide audits and support the County Auditor in planning and executing annual audits. The role requires four years of audit experience, a bachelor's degree in accounting, and strong communication skills.

Preference is given to candidates with a CPA license and governmental accounting exposure, with proficiency in Excel and the ability to develop effective audit programs in line with statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant License preferred
• Four years' experience performing audits.
• Governmental accounting experience helpful.
• Working knowledge of Excel for Windows.
• Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks and duties assigned by the County Auditor.
• Assist in developing the annual audit plan.
• Maintain, enhance and develop audit programs based on necessary internal controls and statutory requirements of the various county offices.
• Communicate audit findings and recommend necessary improvements.
• Assist in performing fund accounting functions.
• Assist with processing and proofing accounts payable and payroll.
• Assist in enforcing the laws governing county finances.
• Backup A/P and Payroll.
