Job summary

Schnucks in Fairview Heights, IL is looking for a friendly checker to provide courteous service, ring up purchases accurately, and maintain cash handling procedures. The role offers about 20–25 hours per week, with availability 6am–10pm and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer purchases accurately
• Identify produce items and know codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customers
• Use proper procedures for accepting cash, checks, debit, credit, EBT, WIC
• Complete register records accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned by store management

Job description

Job Description Candidates MUST be available between 6am-10pm and weekends to be considered. This role is offering about 20-25 or more, hours per week. This is not an official description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. You could expect the position of checker to include the following:

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer’s purchases accurately
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customer
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
• Complete register record accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management

Training

Training will be provided at store level.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Bending Stooping
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)

Additional Requirements – Internal Candidates

• Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.
