Job summary

Schnucks in Brentwood, MO is seeking a part-time checker to provide friendly, efficient service at the register. You will greet customers, scan items, handle coupons, and process a variety of payment methods while maintaining accurate cash handling.

Candidates must be available 7am–10pm and on weekends, with 25+ hours weekly. Training is provided at store level, and Schnucks emphasizes teamwork, a teammate discount, and opportunities for advancement within the company.

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order.
• Check out customer’s purchases accurately.
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes.
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons.
• Process manufacturer coupons.
• Collect correct amount due from customer.
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options.
• Complete register record accurately.
• Practice and maintain cash security.
• Bag customer orders.
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes.
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management.

Job description

Candidates MUST be available between the hours of 7am - 10pm and weekends to be considered. This role is offering 25+ hours per week. This is not an official description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. You could expect the position of checker to include the following:

TRAINING

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Bending Stooping

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS – INTERNAL CANDIDATES

Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS – STORE SUPPORT CENTER TEAMS

Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.

Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline). If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.
