Job summary

Sigma Defense Systems in San Diego, CA seeks an ATGPAC BMD Ashore SME to join our team. The role requires extensive Surface Navy experience, BMD qualifications, and leadership in training and briefing senior audiences.

Responsibilities include training, weekly briefs, and developing training plans and reports for Pacific Fleet ships. A security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required. Salary range: $125,000–$145,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years of Surface Navy experience including technical management and training oversight.
• 5+ years in tactical warfare planning and execution of real or simulated warfare tactics.
• 5+ years of Higher Headquarters level interactions with a strike group or unit.
• Must have BMD Watch Officer/Tactical Action Officer qualification for BMD operations.
• 5+ years of shipboard BMD watch-team training or BMD exercises/operations.
• Experience briefing senior flag-level audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical training and certification recommendations on Ballistic Missile Defense capabilities.
• Provide training to watch standers for augment requirements.
• Participate in weekly ATGPAC Update Briefs and Staff Stand-up Meetings.
• Review and provide weekly feedback on training plans and risk reports for Pacific Fleet ships.
• Produce weekly informational briefs to keep ATGPAC informed on BMD issues.
• Prepare End of Mission Reports in TORIS EOMR for BMD training events.
• Draft BMD messages and Temporary Standing Orders as needed.
• Review SFTRM and recommend improvements to training programs.
• Review BMD Ashore SOPs and suggest changes per latest requirements.

Requirements

• 10-15 years of Surface Navy experience including technical management as a Naval Officer supervising training, or systems configuration, operation, testing, maintenance, and repair.
• 5+ years of experience with tactical warfare planning, implementation, and execution of real-world or simulated warfare tactics (For example: Tactical Warfare SME, Deputy Warfare Commander, Task Group/Squadron Commander, Deputy Warfare Commander, CSG/ESG Warfare Commander Senior Staff).
• 5+ years of experience with Higher Head Quarters level interactions with a strike group or unit (for example experienced in conducting all source collection planning/management, intelligence analysis/fusion at a Theater Maritime Operations Center (MOC), Joint Intelligence Operations Center (JIOC) or National Intelligence Agency).
• Must have BMD Watch Officer/Tactical Action Officer qualification conducting BMD operations or equivalent joint/agency BMD operations.
• 5+ years of experience conducting shipboard BMD watch-team training or recent in-depth experience conducting BMD exercises, training, or operations.
• Must have experience briefing with an in-depth comprehension of development of briefs for senior flag level audience.
• 5+ years of experience training and evaluating Surface Fleet personnel in BMD operations.
• Must have experience conducting workshops and controlling meetings that identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities in relation to BMD.
• Must have experience tracking and managing certification and training schedules for Naval Surface Forces.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Mandatory Certifications:

• TAO Letter.

Personnel Clearance Level:

• Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher.
• Clearance may be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering or related field of study.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

• Provide technical training and certification recommendations on Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) capabilities and limitations for AGS Guam.
• Provide training to individual watch standers when the Military BMD team requires an augment.
• Participate in weekly ATGPAC Commander's Update Brief, Ships-in-Training Briefs, and ATGPAC Staff Stand-up Meetings.
• Review and provide weekly feedback on Basic Phase Training Plans and Basic Phase Training Change and Risk Reports of Pacific Fleet ships in training. Specifically address scheduling, de-confliction, appendix deviations, waivers and staffing.
• Produce and promulgate weekly informational briefs by PowerPoint to ensure ATGPAC is informed on all BMD current and future AGS training issues.
• Prepare End of Mission Reports in TORIS EOMR application for all BMD training events and provide feedback on training readiness issues, training deficiency trends, and recommendations for process improvement.
• Generate/draft BMD messages, such as Temporary Standing Orders.
• Review Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM), develop training improvement initiatives, and make recommendations for improvements to the SFTRM as required.
• Review BMD Ashore Standard Operating Procedures annually and recommend changes based on the latest established requirements.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000 annually.
