Job summary

Concordia University Chicago invites applications for a Temporary Substitute Teacher for a maternity leave assignment beginning October 2026 for approximately 12 weeks. The position is located in River Forest, IL and reports to the Director of the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associates Degree or higher preferred.
• Six semester hours of Early Childhood credits required or preferred.
• Commitment to professional standards in early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the director upon arrival and reviews plans for the day.
• Maintains routines and follows lesson plans of the absent teacher.
• Oversees student behavior in the classroom and during activities.
• Assists with physical prep and cleanup of activities.
• Ensures health and safety of the children.
• Engages with small groups and free play.
• Interacts professionally with students and parents.
• Follows school policies and standards set by DCFS, NLSA and NAEYC.
