Responsibilities include routine maintenance, cleaning, snow removal, restocking, and assisting with cafeteria duties. Starting date is ASAP and position remains open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair of the building and its equipment plus all phases of housekeeping duties.
• Develop and ensure proper function of work, inspection, maintenance and cleaning schedules with the cooperation of the principal or designee.
• Maintain a clean, safe and neat boiler room (if applicable).
• Remove snow, ice, debris from walks, steps and entry ways.
• Help unload trucks, receive, check and store supplies.
• Perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork.
• Keep buildings in a neat and presentable fashion and play areas neat and clean (inside and outside).
• Regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning to provide appropriate temperatures and economical fuel usage.
• Maintain supplies and secure the building daily; turn off lights where applicable.
• Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials.
• Assist in keeping the school yard maintained and neat.
• Report areas needing special maintenance to the head custodian; assist in moving furniture.
• Make minor repairs and report larger needs to the head custodian.
• Replenish supplies in restrooms; change ballasts and bulbs.
• Cooperate with other staff members.
• Assist lunchroom personnel in housekeeping duties of the kitchen and cafeteria.
• Complete reports and forms as required.
• Comply with laws for the storage and disposal of trash.
• Clean building during the summer under direction of head custodian and principal.
