Job summary

Orange County Government is hiring a registered nurse to provide medical care and clinical oversight at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, FL. The RN will perform nursing assessments, triage, and sign orders per SOP, while maintaining logs to meet Corrections Health Services standards.

Supervision comes from the nursing supervisor, with focus on safety and protocol compliance. The role requires a Florida RN license, ability to work nights/weekends, and computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current Florida license as a registered nurse.
• Able to work a variety of shifts; including nights and weekends.
• Proficient in the use of computers.

Responsibilities

• Monitors medication administration timeliness per SOP, compliance by inmates and effectiveness of medications in accordance with established protocols.
• Reports and responds to variances in treatment regimens to the provider.
• Conducts a physical assessment in response to inmate complaints, establishes a nursing diagnosis and refers to the provider, and provides the treatment ordered.
• Conducts physical assessments, tests and sick call triage per SOP.
• Maintains unit compliance for inspections.
• Participates in in-service training and mandatory continuing education.
• Responds to all emergencies.
• Obtains samples and other specimens for laboratory examinations.
• Assists physicians in clinic areas.
• Provides routine clinic tasks as needed.
• Responsible for assisting with education of staff on their units.
• Supervision of line staff and daily operations of the clerical areas.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
