The Merch Manager, reporting to the Store Manager, is responsible for all Merchandising Operations within assigned departments. This includes department layouts, signing standards, product features, raceway and promo aisle setup, markdowns, freight flow to the sales floor, loss prevention, shrink control, and maintenance of their departments. The Merch Manager also acts as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store Manager and Co-Manager, overseeing store operations.
Additional duties may involve HR functions such as hiring, staffing, paperwork, and front-end operations. The Merch Manager ensures company policies and procedures are understood and followed. They are accountable for improving store volume, profits, shrink, employee retention, and merchandising standards by meeting or exceeding budgets and guidelines.
The role requires flexibility to work at different locations within the city, with potential overnight accommodations for new store openings, store cleanups, and inventory needs, as directed by the District Manager. Effective communication of policies, procedures, and training materials to staff and customers is essential.
The physical demands include lifting up to 40 lbs., occasionally up to 70 lbs., and frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Transfers to other stores within the market may occur, requiring flexibility. The position involves working varied hours, including 2-3 nights per week, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs.
