Job Summary

Operate various types of power construction equipment (e.g., compact loader, skid steer, indoor forklift, riding compactor) to excavate, move, and/or grade material.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate gasoline, diesel, pneumatic, or electric-powered equipment to move objects/materials per project specs.
• Assemble and operate compressors and pumps; operate levers and pedals to control equipment and attachments.
• Perform light maintenance: cleaning, greasing, oiling; document maintenance logs.
• Conduct daily inspections and record results.
• Coordinate machine actions with team signals; load and move materials using trucks and related equipment.
• Check fuel supplies; operate equipment with blades for earthwork; calculate slopes and grades.
• Understand trenching/excavating regs; locate underground utilities prior to work.
• Follow safety procedures, including use of OCI Equipment Qualification card, load capacity charts, and hazard awareness.
• Engage in safety programs, report hazards, and participate in pre-job planning.
• Communicate effectively, train helpers, ensure quality, and review plans and specifications.
• Inspect and ensure equipment is maintained and safe; complete daily inspections.

Management Responsibilities & Qualifications

Preferred NCCER Certifications: Heavy Equipment Operations, Highway/Heavy Construction, Rigger, Site Layout.

Minimum 2+ years experience as an equipment operator; knowledge of operating limitations and safety practices; valid Medical Examiner's Certificate; CDL if operating on public roads; at least 18 years old; ability to complete onboarding requirements.

Physical & Work Environment Demands

• Lift up to 50 lbs.; work in confined, uneven, hot/cold, and noisy environments.
• Work in extreme weather, around hazardous equipment, and in potentially dangerous conditions.
• Work up to 12 hours, including physical labor and climbing.
