Job summary

Barcel USA LLC is seeking a QA Laboratory Technician Floater to support safety, quality, and regulatory compliance for food products at our Coppell, TX facility. You will perform laboratory testing on raw materials, packaging, in-process products, finished goods, and environmental samples to verify specifications.

The role involves calibration and maintenance of lab equipment, 5S organization, GLP adherence, and collaboration with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Quality teams to address

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Food Science or equivalent coursework and work experience.

The QA Laboratory Technician Floater supports the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of food products manufactured at the facility in accordance with SQF standards, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
This position is responsible for performing laboratory testing and evaluations of raw materials, packaging components, in-process products, finished goods, and environmental samples to verify compliance with established specifications.
The QA Laboratory Technician Relief provides laboratory coverage based on departmental scheduling needs and supports continuous operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and audit-ready laboratory environment. Additional responsibilities include the calibration, verification, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment; conducting product inspections; and supporting food safety and quality programs through accurate recordkeeping, adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
The role collaborates closely with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Quality teams to identify and address quality concerns, ensure product integrity, and promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• A flexible schedule, including weekend availability, is necessary to fulfill operational requirements. This floater position is primarily responsible for supporting either the 1st and 2nd shifts, the 2nd and 3rd shifts, covering all shift transitions.
• Cover the shifts assigned during the week in order to have a 24/7 operation
• Perform sampling and analysis of incoming ingredients and packaging materials upon receipt.
• Conduct environmental monitoring, sampling and reporting monthly, or as needed.
• Covering QA Technician absences as necessary across all shifts.
• Supervise production processes and verify quality records for accuracy and compliance with our procedures and traceability.
• Perform supervision systematic to comply with specifications and operation conditions.
• Perform product scoring for all levels to make sure we comply with product specifications.
• Perform sampling and analysis of incoming ingredients and packaging materials upon receipt.
• Conduct sampling and physicochemical analysis of in-process and finished goods.
• Collect and maintain retention samples of ingredients, packaging materials, and finished products.
• Support the Quality Supervisor and Food Safety & Quality Operators in daily operations.
• Assist in investigating customer complaints and production nonconformities; implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct startup and changeover inspections and release for production.
• Inspect and release non-conforming products in accordance with company protocols.
• Maintain, organize, and clean QA laboratory workspace and equipment following 5S principles.
• Manage and maintain QA laboratory records and documentation.
• Perform Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspections across the facility.
• Promote and support the 5S program throughout the plant, ensuring cleanliness and organization of work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, Quality, and Food Safety guidelines.
• Adhere to company safety rules and procedures, report unsafe conditions to management.
• Provide support across all shifts as needed.
• Assist in foreign matter incident investigations and follow-up actions.
• Perform shift closing inspections prior to plant shutdown.
• Train operators on quality and food safety procedures to ensure proper understanding and execution of standards.
• Support departmental and organizational needs by performing additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
