Position Overview
The MRI Technologist performs complex MRI procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing injuries and diseases.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT in MRI within 1 year of hire.
- State licensure as MRI Technologist or MRI Apprentice, or applicable state license where services are performed.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
Additional Requirements for Pennsylvania
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT in MRI within 1 year of hire.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- ARRT Certification in Radiography.
- One (1) year experience in MRI.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements describe the general nature of work performed by individuals in this role. They are not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare and explain exams to patients.
- Perform exams related to specialty areas.
- Maintain current knowledge of procedures in specialty areas.
- Ensure magnetic field safety compliance.
- Assist physicians during specialty exams.
- Process exams and make them available on PACS.
- Practice appropriate patient, family, and self-safety.
- Delegate and evaluate care delivery by peers and staff.
- Participate in self-evaluation and professional development.
- Complete all paperwork after exams.
- Participate in education and oversight of staff and students.
- Engage in committee activities for information exchange and problem solving.
- Attend educational activities for knowledge enhancement.
- Identify problems for investigation and contribute to research.
- Provide value-based care emphasizing quality customer service.
Physical Requirements
- Extended standing and walking.
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Carry items up to 20 lbs.
Work Environment
- Work in a strong magnetic field.
- Potential exposure to viruses, diseases, injuries, radiation, and sharps.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of MRI procedures and safety.
- Strong organization, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
