Job summary

ALTEN Mexico is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Sr to contribute to an Iron Air Battery project as the mechanical DFX lead for cost, manufacturability, design integration, and technical delivery. Remote role with 5+ years of experience and English level B2–C1.

Responsibilities include leading mechanical work packages, reviewing concepts for pack structures and piping, driving design reviews, and coordinating cross-functional inputs across CAD, CAE, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or related fields.
• 7+ years of mechanical product-development experience with ownership of complex assemblies.
• Experience from concept through detailed design, verification, release and production support.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA and ECO processes.
• Ability to communicate tradeoffs, risks and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers and customers.
• Advanced SolidWorks for parts/assemblies/drawings and PLM/PDM release processes.

ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group is currently working with international clients, and we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer Sr who will contribute to the development of an Iron Air Battery, a large-scale energy storage solution, as mechanical DFX lead for cost, manufacturability, design integration, and technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical work packages and allocate activities across the mechanical team.
• Develop and review redesign concepts for pack structures, roof/base skid, cell hardware, piping, fittings, scrubber vessel, and sustaining issues.
• Drive design reviews, problem resolution, supplier DFM discussions, and cross-functional decisions.
• Ensure designs maintain critical interfaces and backward compatibility where required.
• Review CAD, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analyses, BOMs, cost estimates, and validation plans.
• Coordinate FEA, CFD, plastics, materials, electrical, manufacturing, and sourcing inputs.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or related fields.
• 7+ years of mechanical product-development experience, including technical ownership of complex assemblies.
• Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
• Advanced SolidWorks capability for parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, and design changes; experience with PLM/PDM and formal release processes.
• Demonstrated cost-reduction, supplier collaboration, and technical‑leadership experience.
• Ability to combine CAD, CAE results, supplier feedback, validation planning, and cost data into design decisions.
• Experience with structures, sheet metal, welded assemblies, piping, fittings, plastics, tolerance analysis, and mechanical interfaces.

English level B2–C1.

• Experience in energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, iron-air technology).
