North Side High School in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a 7hr 1:1 Special Education School Assistant to support a student with an IEP throughout the day and during school activities.

The role focuses on instructional aid, classroom routines, and safety within an inclusive learning environment. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and experience with special needs, plus strong communication and computer skills.

Formación

• Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with students with special needs preferred.
• Must be flexible to meet changing needs and have strong tutoring skills.
• Relate well with students, staff and parents.
• Strong office, computer, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Knowledge of child guidance principles and basic instructional methods.

Responsabilidades

• Provide one-to-one support to the assigned student during the school day.
• Assist access to instruction and school routines in general and special education settings.
• Modify materials as directed by licensed staff.
• Reinforce academic concepts and skills introduced by teachers.
• Provide prompts, cues, and reinforcement per the educational plan.
• Support functional communication across classroom, social, and school environments.
• Assist with use of communication supports and visual schedules as applicable.
• Maintain student safety and supervise during transitions and activities.
• Follow IEP/BIP directions and participate in required trainings.
