Job summary

Greenspire School, located in Traverse City, is seeking a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional 1:1 to support students with diverse learning needs under the direction of special education teachers.

You will assist in implementing IEPs, provide one-on-one and small-group support, help with classroom management, and collaborate with therapists and staff to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with the preparation and implementation of instructional materials, resources, and classroom activities.
• Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Provide instructional assistance under the supervision of the classroom Teacher.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in various subjects.
• Help students develop academic, social, and communication skills through targeted interventions.
• Help with classroom management and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and other educational staff.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to design and implement effective strategies for student success.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of instructional plans.
