Job summary

Cincinnati Public Schools Owens Center for Learning in Cincinnati, Ohio, is seeking a Paraprofessional (Special Needs/1:1/Units) to support students under the supervision of certified staff.

Starting immediately, will assist with reading, math, and classroom activities, supervise lunch and field trips, and help maintain a safe, organized learning environment. Salary is $21.85 per hour under AFSCME contract, about 7 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher.
• Passing of the Parapro Assessment examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience working with children desirable.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Educational Aide Permit issued by the State of Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively, solve problems and work independently.
• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills.
