Job summary

Lake Shore Public Schools in Michigan is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a middle school student under the supervision of a certified teacher. The position is about 7.5 hours per day and may include helping with transitions, lunch, and classroom activities.

The role supports the student’s participation in the general education program, implements accommodations, strengthens organization and executive functioning, and collaborates with teachers

Qualifications

• Provides individualized 1:1 support to an identified student during the school day.
• Supports participation in the general education curriculum with IEP accommodations.
• Assists with organization, time management, and executive functioning needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and records.
• Collaborates with teachers and other staff to support student goals.

Responsibilities

• Provides 1:1 support throughout the school day, including transitions and activities.
• Reinforces academic concepts and implements classroom accommodations.
• Supports organization, task initiation and study skills for the student.
• Helps the student develop independence and self-advocacy.
• Maintains data on progress as directed by staff.
