Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• PESB paraeducator assessment or associate degree or higher or 72 quarter credits/48 semester credits required.
• WA driver’s license may be required per district policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to a student with disabilities in educational, community, and school settings.
• Use de-escalation and behavior-support strategies to maintain access to instruction.
• Maintain supervision and student safety while promoting independence and self-regulation.
• Support implementation of the student’s IEP goals including social-emotional and communication goals.
• Collaborate with special education staff to implement instructional and behavioral supports.
• Collect and document student data and communicate observations to the team.
• Foster positive peer interactions and student self-advocacy.
• Communicate effectively with staff and adapt to changing student needs.
