Job summary

Spartanburg School District 5 Abner Creek Middle School in Greer, SC seeks a Special Education Teacher Assistant for 2026-2027. Under direct supervision, provide 1:1 and group support for students with special needs, assist with instruction, behavior plans, and daily care during the school day.

Applicants may be certified or non-certified; 60 college credits or ParaPro test required if non-certified. CNA/PTA preferred; reports to Building Administrator and assigned Teacher(s).

Qualifications

• Must be certified or non-certified with 60 college credits or ParaPro test.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 care and assist with personal care, health and safety.
• Assist with classroom instruction and implement IEPs.
• Assist student with academics and classroom activities.
• Prepare and disseminate instructional materials for student use.
• Set up classroom for activities and prepare materials.
• Adjust equipment for student use as needed.
• accompany class on field trips as required.
• Ensure student safety in the classroom.
• Perform other related duties as required.
