Job summary

Farmington Area Public Schools is seeking a 1:1 SpEd Para at FES. The position is 32 hours per week with compensation at $22.50 per hour.

The role focuses on assisting teachers to meet the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities, working with individuals or small groups under teacher direction. Responsibilities include reinforcing motor, academic, social, self-care or communication skills, adapting to each student’s medical, physical, and emotional needs, and assisting

• Experience working with children, preferred in educational settings.
• Ability to assist teachers in meeting physical and instructional needs.

Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce motor, academic, social, self-care or communication skills under the direction of the teacher.
Assisting the teacher(s) in devising strategies for reinforcing skills based on understanding of students needs, interests and abilities.
Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional need.
Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, and positioning.

• Experience working with children, work experience in educational setting preferred.
