Job summary

NYC Public Schools is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care for medically fragile students across NYC public schools for the 2026-2027 year.

Typical hours are aligned with the academic day, roughly 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with no nights or weekends. The role emphasizes collaboration with school staff, families, and healthcare teams to support health, safety, and access to education.

Qualifications

• Active NYS RN license required.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience in pediatric, school-based, home care, or community care preferred.
• Strong communication and independent clinical judgment expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one nursing services to a medically fragile student throughout the school day.
• Support students with needs including seizure care, diabetes management, G-tube feeding, suctioning, oxygen administration, ventilator support, pulse oximetry, and medication administration.
• Ride the bus with the student if required by the assignment.
• Partner with school personnel, family members, and care teams.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with DOE and NYS requirements.
