Job summary

Tenney Grammar School in Methuen, MA is seeking a 1:1 Program Assistant for the Footsteps Lower School. This full-time position supports students with developmental and cognitive delays in a self-contained classroom, assisting with academics and behavior plans under the guidance of a special education teacher.

The role requires a high school diploma (associates degree or higher preferred), experience with children, SPED training preferred, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with associates degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working with children, particularly those with cognitive delays.
• SPED training preferred.
• Experience assisting in program implementation, including behavioral interventions.
• Ability to work with professional staff.
• Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support students with global developmental, cognitive delays, and physical challenges in a self-contained Lower School classroom.
• Assist with academics and implement lesson plans and behavior plans under teacher guidance.
• Support with arrival and dismissal and inclusion into general education classes.
• Be trained to assist if a student uses a communication device.
• Physically demanding; may lift up to 50 lbs.
• Seek a team-oriented constructive contributor to the school.
