Job summary

Bristol Public Schools seeks a Non-Certified: Support Aides/Paraeducator at Bristol Eastern High School to assist in small group and individual pupil instruction.

Under the supervision of a Special Education Teacher, you will support instruction, manage behavior, and help implement IEPs; you may assist with toileting and supervision during recess and lunch. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and basic computer skills. Schedule is 6.5 hours daily, ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students from room to room.
• Toileting students is sometimes required.
• Involves work with both special education and regular students.
• Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
• Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
• Assist students with classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
• Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
• May require supporting with toileting of students.
