Job summary

York County School Division at Tabby High School is seeking a Special Education Para-Educator for the 2026-2027 school year to support a 1:1 student in an inclusion setting. The role involves preparing instructional materials, reinforcing lessons, and collaborating with the teacher and building administrator.

The position is non-exempt, with compensation ranging from $16.3171 to $28.8354 per hour, plus supplements for specific classroom assignments and personal care needs.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of work with children or related coursework, or complete within 60 days of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree qualifies for Tier Two.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by preparing instructional materials and reinforcing instruction under supervision.
• Monitor and assist students under the direction of the teacher or administrator.
• Assist with behavior management and/or medical plans as needed.
• Communicate professionally with staff.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized classroom spaces.
• Assist with daily personal health maintenance tasks if assigned.
• Serve bus, cafeteria, or hall duty.
• Perform other duties as assigned by teacher and administrator.
