Job summary

Clio School District is seeking a High School Special Education Paraprofessional 1:1 to support a student with special needs. You will assist with academics, personal care, and mobility under the guidance of the Special Education Teacher, Building Principal, and Special Education Director.

Starting pay is $16.00 per hour. The schedule is 35 hours per week for 181 days per year, with a focus on confidentiality, safety, and teamwork to help the student meet goals.

Qualifications

• Education: State of Michigan Title I paraprofessional requirements.
• Experience: Previous work experience as an aide and working with children is preferred.
• Skills: ability to accept supervision and work creatively with students; physical stamina for lifting non-ambulatory students; emotional stability and good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Encourage students in educational tasks through individual attention, praise, encouragement, and support.
• Assist in lifting and movement of students with physical disabilities as appropriate.
• Perform hygiene and health-related procedures as required.
• Loads and unloads the student(s) from the school bus/vehicles.
• Assists with meals, recreational activities, and bathroom duties as assigned.
• Responsible for accompanying students to classes.
• Responsible for maintaining confidentiality regarding special education students.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
