Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator for the Functional Core Program to work 1:1 with a student and assist with functional life skills, personal care and medical tasks under a certificated teacher. The role includes behavior support, documentation, and collaboration with district staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, and possible AA degree or required credits or assessment test.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IEP goals/objectives and record-keeping is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families and staff.
• Familiarity with safety, de-escalation, and PBIS concepts desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with meeting IEP goals and maintain records.
• Prepare classroom materials and support instructional activities.
• Maintain clean, safe facilities and support personal care needs.
• Assist with feeding, toileting, catheterization, and medical procedures as directed.
• Position and lift medically fragile students as required.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and related activities.
• Build positive rapport with students and staff; report concerns to supervisor.
• Support substitute teachers with classroom information.
