Job Summary:

The Skills Trainer Coordinator provides support to the Adult Day Vocational Program (ADVP) Director. Responsible for monitoring the safety and well-being of program participants, assisting in the development and delivery of health and wellness, social/recreational activities, community integration, volunteer opportunities, and independence skills programming. The role may include personal care, work support, respite relief, and other duties to ensure a quality rehabilitation program for participants onsite, at home, or in the community. Reports directly to the ADVP Director.

Primary Duties
  • Provide daily health, wellness, social, recreational, community, volunteer, and independence skills activities, ensuring participant safety and needs are met following program guidelines.
  • Assist with implementing rehabilitative programs aligned with individual support plans.
  • Maintain compliant documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and data recording, adhering to regulatory requirements and policies.
  • Monitor safety in meal, break, work, and recreation areas.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist participants with meals, personal care, and community integration as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention support; report incidents immediately and complete incident reports within 24 hours.
  • Support program functions like training, activities, trips, and recreational events.
  • Assist with transportation of participants.
  • Implement and monitor program goals and contribute ideas for behavioral and social improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED plus 1-year experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Experience in direct programming preferred.
  • Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation; good motor vehicle record required.
  • Must pass NC Healthcare Personnel Registry check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and community agencies.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and procedural documents.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, and Access.
  • Basic understanding of working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle practical situations.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, and communicate. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities include close, distance, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Typically quiet, with the usual noise level expected in a healthcare/support setting.
