HEAD CUSTODIAN

REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Director of Building and Grounds

JOB GOAL: Maintain a clean and attractive building and premises, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, the Director of Buildings and Grounds, or the school administrator(s).

Performance Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of building, sidewalks, driveways, roof, and play areas.
• Shovel and dress walks and steps as needed.
• Check exit doors and panic bolts during building occupancy.
• Raise and lower the U.S. flag at designated times.
• Wash all windows inside and outside at least twice a year.
• Keep grounds free from rubbish and remove graffiti as needed.
• Perform yard work such as grass cutting, trimming, and snow removal.
• Clean corridors and restrooms daily, disinfect fixtures and floors.
• Maintain floors and building repairs, report major repairs.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules.
• Monitor HVAC systems and report abnormalities.
• Ensure building security and proper closure each day.
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Follow local laws for waste disposal.
• Stay updated on energy-saving programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
