Job summary

AJ's Power Source (AJPS) in Land O' Lakes, FL, is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Design Engineer to lead development of advanced power conversion products for military, aerospace, and industrial use.

You will design AC/DC and DC/DC switch-mode supplies, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment, working with Sales, Manufacturing, PCB Design, and Quality teams from concept through production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Physical Sciences.
  • 5+ years of experience designing power electronics and power conversion systems.
  • Experience with AC/DC and DC/DC switch-mode power supplies.
  • Experience designing Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS).
  • Experience with military, aerospace, or ruggedized electronic products.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, MIL-STD standards.
  • Experience with product qualification and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and evaluate complex electrical power conversion systems.
  • Design AC/DC and DC/DC switch-mode power supplies.
  • Design and troubleshoot Power Supplies, UPS, Inverters, and Distribution Systems.
  • Perform component-level circuit design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Interpret customer specifications for new or modified products.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Coordinate across PCB, Mechanical, Documentation, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering collaboration.
  • Drive innovation with new technologies and design methodologies.
  • Coordinate product qualification and regulatory certification efforts.
  • Document designs and release for manufacturing.

Electrical Power Systems Design Engineer

Location: Land O' Lakes, FL

Compensation: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually

Position Summary

A privately held, Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) headquartered in Land O' Lakes, Florida is seeking an experienced Electrical Power Systems Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced power conversion products used in military, aerospace, and industrial applications.This role is ideal for an engineer with extensive experience designing AC/DC and DC/DC switch-mode power supplies, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, PCB Design, and Quality teams to develop innovative products from concept through production while ensuring compliance with military and commercial standards.This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering position where creativity, problem-solving, and leadership are equally valued.

Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
  • Design, develop, and evaluate complex electrical power conversion systems.
  • Design AC/DC and DC/DC switch-mode power supplies utilizing a variety of circuit topologies.
  • Design and troubleshoot:
    • Power Supplies
    • UPS Systems
    • Inverters
    • Power Distribution Systems
  • Perform component-level circuit design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Interpret customer specifications and marketing requirements for new or modified products.
  • Determine design approaches and technical parameters for both new product development and product enhancements.
  • Modify and improve existing electronic designs for increased performance and manufacturability.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Support the Sales team with technical proposal development and product feasibility reviews.
  • Identify and specify components appropriate for demanding power applications.
  • Lead design reviews and ensure products meet customer, military, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies and design methodologies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for product failures and technical issues.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across:
    • PCB Layout
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Documentation
    • Manufacturing
    • Regulatory Compliance
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Compliance & Product Quality
  • Ensure products comply with:

  • Develop strategies to achieve product certifications and regulatory approvals.
