Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of a district plan for user security requirements
  • Monitor user access reports and notify ITS supervisors of inconsistencies
  • Provide support to teachers, administrators, and district staff in provisioning and managing software system access
  • Investigate suspicions of unauthorized access, system breaches, and other security concerns
  • Track and record staff with elevated systems access privileges
  • Help develop training modules for end users on computer security
  • Assist with audits of security logs and communicate findings to administrators
  • Provide input on district security policy recommendations
  • Assist in developing short- and long-range plans for operational functions
  • Determine network access requirements and access control for vendors and non-district personnel
  • Enforce procedures regarding application and network access activities
  • Assist with electronic filtering activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Description
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree in computer science or technical programming school completion or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) year's experience in information technology systems, preferably including experience in public education
  • Experience in managing information systems activities, including management of acceptable use agreements
  • Must be able to attend and complete various training sessions to maintain knowledge of current technology and systems

  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies concerning information systems security requirements
  • Ability to work as a team member or assist the team leader in varied groups

POSITION GOAL

Ensure the security and proper level of privileged software system access accounts

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assist in the development and implementation of a district plan for user security requirements.
  2. Monitor reports for user access to systems and notify ITS supervisors of any inconsistencies.
  3. Provide support to teachers, administrators, and district staff in the provisioning and management of appropriate levels of software systems account access.
  4. Investigate suspicions of unauthorized access, system breaches, and other activities that could compromise district cyber security.
  5. Track and record all staff with elevated systems access privileges.
  6. Assist with providing necessary materials for development and production of cyclical electronic independent training modules for end users in computer security.
  7. Assist with conducting periodic analysis and audit of computer security log information and contact administrators with needed information to reinforce security on designated computer(s).
  8. Provide input on district security policy recommendations.
  9. Assist in the development of short- and long-range plans for assigned operational functions.
  10. Assist in determining network access requirements and access control to district network for vendors and non-district personnel.
  11. Assist with enforcement of procedures regarding application and network access activities.
  12. Assist with situations arising from electronic filtering activities.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned
