Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a skilled individual for the remodeling and maintenance of its facilities in Dallas, Texas. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, laying walls, and floor installation, among other carpentry tasks. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, three years of utility experience or 45 hours of college coursework. A valid Texas Driver's License is required. Physical requirements include the ability to lift more than 50 pounds and climb ladders.

• Read blueprints to ensure the proper materials are used for the job.
• Lay floor tile, repair sheetrock walls, perform carpentry work and build all types of woodwork.

Job description

Responsible for remodeling and maintenance of Dallas County Facilities. Read blueprints, lay walls, ceilings and floors, install suspended ceilings, drywall, VCT, doors, jambs, locks, cabinets, counters, ceramic tile, laminate work, paint, tape and bed, wall finishes, wall coverings, construct new walls, roughen electrical and plumbing, ceiling systems, concrete forming and pouring, install restroom stall parts and accessories, pull electrical/computer/telephone cabling, demolish all types of walls, window installation.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to ensure the proper materials are used for the job. Plan and build walls and ceilings according to prints.
• Lay floor tile, repair sheetrock walls; perform carpentry work and build all types of woodwork, cabinets, and bookshelves; hang doors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program. Three (3) years of utility related experience or 45 hours of college or a combination of the two.

Special Requirements

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and pass a security clearance check.

Physical Requirements

Ability to climb ladders; lift weights in excess of 50 pounds.
