Job summary

Role Description

The YKS History Teacher at Ihsan International School is a full-time, on-site role based in Istanbul. The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging YKS-focused history lessons, aligning instruction with national exam requirements and school standards. Daily tasks include preparing lesson plans and teaching materials, delivering classroom instruction, assessing student performance, and providing feedback to support academic progress. The teacher collaborates with colleagues on curriculum alignment, participates in departmental meetings, and communicates effectively with students, families, and school leadership. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, supporting student exam preparation, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of World History and American History, with the ability to connect global and regional perspectives to YKS exam requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in History Education and Lesson Planning, including creating structured, exam-oriented lessons for secondary students.
• Skills in Curriculum Development, with a focus on aligning content, assessments, and teaching strategies to YKS standards and school policies.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in History, History Education, or a related field; teaching certification or qualification suitable for secondary-level history is preferred.
• Experience preparing students for standardized or national exams; familiarity with YKS or similar exam systems is an advantage.
• Ability to create an inclusive, respectful classroom environment and work effectively with diverse student backgrounds.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multicultural school setting.
