Job summary

Occlutech is seeking a Vice President R&D to lead product-focused research and development across the organization, reporting to the CEO and serving on the Management Team. You will set direction for innovation, guide products from concept through validation, launch and serial production, and ensure robust design control, change control and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in engineering, technical or scientific discipline.
• Several years of R&D experience in medical devices with comparable products.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 13485, MDSAP and 21 CFR 820.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage detailed R&D plans, budgets, milestones and resources.
• Generate and evaluate new product ideas and guide concepts through validation.
• Lead product-focused R&D to drive new product development and innovation.

Job description

As Vice President R&D, you will lead product-focused research and development across Occlutech, reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a member of the Management Team. You will set direction for innovation and new product development, guide products from concept through validation, launch and serial production, and ensure robust design control, change control and risk management. You will work closely with site leaders and cross-functional partners while leading and developing the on-site R&D team in Jena, Germany and Istanbul, Turkey.

Location: At one of Occlutech´s main sites (Jena Germany, Istanbul Turkey, Helsingborg Sweden or Mumbai India)

Direct reports: Global R&D Director and R&D Engineer II

Work model: Full time

Your work will focus on:

• Compile, maintain and manage detailed R&D plans and budgets, including milestones, timelines and resources.
• Plan and lead activities to generate and evaluate new product ideas.
• Lead product-focused research and development of new products, generating innovation and driving new product development.
• Support clinical studies and other departments on R&D-related topics.
• Transfer products from development into serial production, including process optimization, work and test instructions, sample production and coordination with Production.
• Provide technical leadership and maintain design control, change control and risk management processes.
• Ensure compliance with current ISO standards, MDSAP, MDR, 21 CFR 820 and other applicable requirements.
• Collaborate with Regulatory, Quality, Clinical Research and Marketing to advance products from proof of concept through validation and launch.
• Partner closely with key opinion leaders, R&D Site Managers across Occlutech and Management, particularly on intellectual-property initiatives.
• Lead and develop the on-site R&D team in Germany and Istanbul.

We are looking for a candidate who:

• Has several years of R&D experience in the medical device industry with comparable products.
• Holds a bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, technical or scientific discipline, or a related field.
• Has strong working knowledge of ISO 13485, MDSAP and 21 CFR 820.
• Can demonstrate success in a leadership role and excel at team management.
• Is an excellent communicator with strong presentation skills and a convincing presence.
• Brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills, creative thinking and an achievement-oriented mindset.
• Communicates effectively in English.
