Job summary

CACTUS Communications is seeking an Editor to leverage subject-matter expertise to refine research manuscripts, ensuring scientific accuracy and clarity while enhancing language quality for global publication.

The role emphasizes evaluating study design, statistics, and interpretation, with a focus on discipline-specific accuracy and high-quality English editing. Prior scientific editing experience is preferred, offering exposure to prestigious journals and a flexible workflow.

Qualifications

• PhD in Public Health or Epidemiology (mandatory).
• 5+ first-author publications (mandatory).
• Ability to critically assess study design, methodology, statistics, and interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve clarity, coherence, and readability while preserving authors’ meaning.
• Ensure subject-specific terminology and conventions are accurate for the audience.
• Improve presentation of complex findings to enhance publication readiness.
• Edit manuscripts so text meets high academic writing standards and adheres to journal guidelines when required.
