Job summary

Avenga seeks a Lead Backend & Data Engineer to build a deterministic RAG system. You will design Apache Beam pipelines, develop high-concurrency APIs with FastAPI, and act as the Truth Engine for downstream LLM agents.

You will work with Google Cloud Spanner, graph databases, and Temporal workflows while collaborating with AI, Platform, and Data teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Backend Engineering, Data Engineering, or Distributed Systems.
• Deep expertise in Apache Beam (Python) or equivalent large-scale distributed data processing frameworks.
• Hands-on production experience with Google Cloud Spanner or another distributed SQL database.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy Apache Beam pipelines across varied runners (Dataflow, Flink).
• Structure and optimize multi-hop graph queries using ISO GQL.
• Implement gRPC connection pooling for Spanner within FastAPI/Cloud Run to ensure sub-100ms latency.
