The purpose of this role is to lead and execute end-to-end Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) projects, ensuring the successful delivery of turnkey solutions tailored to customer needs. This role is instrumental in bridging technical execution with customer satisfaction, managing all phases from system architecture design to on-site commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Intralogistics system design and architecture, including optimal, peak, and fallback operating scenario analyses, cycle time and charging cycle assessments, PFMEA studies to identify and mitigate system risks, and the management of design, integration, validation, and commissioning activities for AGV/AMR and peripheral equipment in accordance with project requirements and performance targets.
- Leading and managing AMR projects from concept through to commissioning, managing project timelines, budgets, milestones, and resource planning.
- Driving internal coordination and project reviews & sign-off gates to maintain accountability and momentum.
- Identifying and mitigating risks to ensure on-time and high-quality project delivery.
- Acting as the primary customer contact to manage timelines, expectations, and feedback.
- Plan & oversee installation, deployment and customer acceptance of the system.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of overall experience in industries such as automation, robotics, industrial systems, or other technology-driven turnkey project environments.
- At least 7 years of direct experience in project management or project engineering, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical projects.
- Hands-on experience in managing cross-functional teams and coordinating between departments including engineering, sales, and production.
- Prior involvement in customer-facing roles, with demonstrated ability to manage expectations, resolve issues, and drive customer satisfaction.
- Experience working with industrial hardware and software tools (e.g., AGV/AMRs, PLCs, sensors, simulation tools, CAD platforms) is preferred.
- Experience in intralogistics process design and optimization, AGV/AMR implementations, warehouse and inventory management, FIFO/LIFO inventory strategies, process and workflow analysis, cycle time improvement initiatives, as well as monitoring and enhancing equipment efficiency, OEE, and resource utilization performance.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required-preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related technical field
- Additional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are considered a plus
- Strong project ownership mindset with ability to manage scope, resources, risks, and deadlines effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills-comfortable interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment across departments
- Structured decision-making, analytical thinking, and keen attention to detail
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, Vismockup) and familiarity with industrial tools and systems
- Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of German is a plus
- Valid driver's license
