Job summary

CATL, based in Bursa, Türkiye, seeks an experienced Process Engineer (BIW) to monitor and improve BIW dimensional performance in the welding workshop. You will lead CMM data analysis, optimize measurement points, review fixturing, and drive root-cause actions across mass production.

You will collaborate with OEMs, ensure dimensional standards compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the dimensional management system while traveling as needed to overseas sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in automotive welding dimensional engineering.
• Experience with BIW welding dimensional development and mass-production support.
• Proficient in GD&T, RPS, PLP and dimensional tools; CMM measurement knowledge.
• Ability to develop CMM measurement plans and reports.
• Knowledge of welding fixture structures and on-site tryout processes.
• Strong English for technical communication.
• Willingness to travel or be stationed overseas when required.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer (BIW) to join our team and be based at our Bursa facility in Türkiye.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and continuously improve the dimensional pass rate of Body-in-White (BIW) in the welding workshop; lead comprehensive analysis of CMM measurement data and optimization of CMM measurement points.
• Review fixturing and tooling locating schemes for the welding production line (including clamps, grippers, etc.), diagnose dimensional deviations, and track on-site corrective actions to restore and optimize tooling accuracy.
• Conduct root cause analysis for complex dimensional issues during mass production (e.g., weld distortion, assembly interference, functional dimension out-of-tolerance), and develop and implement corrective action plans.
• Interface with customers (OEMs) on dimensional standards and acceptance requirements, lead the resolution and closure of dimensional-related customer complaints, and drive continuous improvement of the dimensional management system.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive/Vehicle Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive welding dimensional engineering, including at least 2 complete program experiences covering welding dimensional development and mass-production dimensional support.
• In-depth knowledge of BIW welding processes and dimensional chain analysis; proficient in GD&T, RPS, PLP, and other dimensional engineering tools; skilled in Catia/UG or equivalent 3D software.Solid understanding of CMM measurement principles, measurement planning, and measurement data analysis.
• Ability to independently develop CMM measurement plans and prepare comprehensive dimensional analysis reports.
• Good knowledge of welding fixture structures and on-site tryout processes, with the ability to diagnose and resolve tooling-related dimensional issues directly on the production floor.
• Good command of English, with the ability to use English effectively as a working language in technical communication, meetings, and report writing.
• Strong cross-functional communication and coordination skills, with a structured approach to problem analysis and systematic problem-solving.
• Willingness to travel frequently and/or be stationed at overseas production sites when required.
