Job summary

Sezzle is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own and lead the evolution of authentication and authorization. You will architect and build gateway and identity services primarily in Golang, partnering with Product, Security, and Support to deliver secure, scalable auth capabilities at the edge.

You will drive API gateway design, migrate systems with zero downtime, and mentor teams while upholding fintech-grade security and regulatory requirements, including OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC/ABAC, and mTLS,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with significant backend work.
• Experience deploying changes to production in the last 30 days.
• Deep expertise in authentication and authorization systems (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, JWT).
• Experience designing or operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and roadmap for authentication and authorization.
• Architect, design, and build scalable auth services and gateway components (Golang).
• Lead secure migrations with rollback mechanisms and zero-downtime patterns.
• Mentor engineers and drive secure-by-default patterns in the auth path.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, and Compliance to meet fintech standards.
