We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research team working at the interface of surface science and materials chemistry. The position is funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant WETDNA.
The ideal candidate will have a strong experimental background, demonstrated by prior publications in the fabrication and characterization of non-wetting surfaces (e.g. hydrophobic, slippery, superhydrophobic, and omniphobic coatings). Hands-on experience with the measurement and analysis of surface wetting properties is required. Experience in interfacial coupling chemistries—such as amine–carboxylic acid coupling via EDC/NHS chemistry—for the functionalization of solid substrates is considered an advantage.
The candidate will participate in developing novel encoded surfaces with tunable wetting properties. The primary responsibility of the researcher will be fabrication and characterization of omniphobic and functional surfaces using different coupling chemistries.
We are particularly interested in self-motivated researchers with strong scientific writing skills and a record of publication in prestigious journals. The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal by mutual agreement.
The postdoctoral researcher will work in the Onses Lab under the supervision of Professor Mustafa Serdar ONSES. The research program of Onses Lab focuses on the design, fabrication and applications of nanostructured surfaces in different fields through molecular and self-assembly processes. Currently, our research concentrates on the fabrication of encoded and liquid-repellent surfaces. The team consists of more than ten members, including both permanent and non-permanent researchers with whom the candidate will collaborate. The Onses Lab is strongly committed to scientific excellence and has a demonstrated publication record in top-tier journals.The training of young scientists is prioritized in the lab, and the majority of students and postdoctoral researchers who have emerged from the group are currently employed in academic and technical positions. Onses Lab benefits from a rich international network of academic and industrial collaborations. The laboratory houses cutting-edge scientific equipment dedicated to fabrication and characterization of interfaces with access to multiple central laboratories.
