What we’re looking for:
- 15+ years of technical experience, including 5+ years in an engineering management role, with a strong, hands-on technical foundation
- Experience in delivering high quality consumer facing web and mobile applications, applying software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle
- Strong technical depth and credibility — able to review and challenge architecture and design decisions, set engineering standards, and get hands-on with architecture or code when the team or project needs it
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate, empower, and hold accountable a team of software development engineers
- Excellent project management skills including estimation, planning, risk management, and resource allocation
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile practices
- Continuously improve existing processes for Software Development Lifecycle and also establish systems and best practices to increase efficiency and technical quality
- Genuine passion for staying current with new technologies and applying them where they add real value
- Ability to quickly learn, unlearn and adapt
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong problem solving and critical and analytical thinking skills
What you’ll do?
We are looking for a leader who will be hands-on in leading and taking ownership of a team of software development engineers (HC: 35+) driving the timely delivery of high-quality mobile applications and maintaining the overall technical excellence and best practices of the software development process.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of software development engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, agency, and accountability
- Own the entire software development lifecycle in coordination with cross-functional teams, from design and development to testing and deployment, from project planning to deployment and maintenance
- Compile and present management reports on team performance including KPIs, deliverable status, etc.
- Continuously evaluate and apply the best practices and proactively recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve the process and the overall quality of applications
- Ensure systems are well-architected and highly available
- Manage and allocate resources effectively to ensure the successful completion of projects within budget and timelines
- Ensure both the project and organization milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
- Engage with clients in their respective function or business area
- Get your hands dirty, if needed
