Responsibilities

Job purpose: This Finance Associate role supports IOM's mission activities in Türkiye under the supervision of the National Finance Officer and Resources Management Officer. The incumbent is responsible for providing essential finance support services, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of financial transactions. This includes preparing payments, entering transactions, reconciling accounts, and managing bank interactions. The role is crucial for maintaining financial integrity and supporting the operational needs of the mission, contributing to the overall effectiveness of IOM's programs.

Responsibilities: Key duties include preparing payment requests with proper documentation verification and invoice checks. The role involves entering transactions into the WAVE system and reconciling payable/receivable vendor accounts to ensure timely clearing according to contracts or purchase orders, with follow-up on outstanding advances. Responsibilities also encompass monitoring and following up with the procurement department for commitment clearances before month-end closing. The Finance Associate will manage bank interactions, monitor mission balances, and ensure timely and efficient financial transactions. This includes proper recording and filing of financial documents, ensuring disbursements adhere to IOM accounting rules, and preparing weekly payment schedules in coordination with other departments. The role also involves calculating and disbursing operational advance cash payments to beneficiaries and conducting weekly cash counts.

Education: A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration, is required. Professional certification as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant is highly regarded. An equivalent combination of relevant training and field experience, specifically in IOM accounting systems, with at least two years of finance and accounting experience, is also acceptable. Universities must be accredited and listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Work experience: Experience with IOM accounting systems, ORACLE software, and procedures is a distinct advantage. The role requires the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and analyze data. High computer literacy, particularly with IOM computerized accounting systems and MS Office (especially Excel), is essential. Knowledge of financial reporting and data analysis is necessary for effective performance.
