Job summary

EY Law Department in Istanbul seeks a Senior Lawyer and Assistant Lawyer to advise on Technology Law, with emphasis on data protection and privacy, AI, and related topics. The role requires collaboration with clients and cross-functional teams across EY’s global network.

Ideal candidates have a law degree and 1–3 years’ experience in corporate/compliance, with fluency in Turkish and English. CIPP/E or ISO27701 is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law; 1–3 years in-house or law firm focusing on corporate/compliance matters.
• Strong knowledge of Data Protection Law (KVKK, GDPR, CCPA), AI, Cyber Security Law, Digital Law and Technology Law.
• CIPP/E and ISO27701 certifications are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on Technology Law including data protection, AI, e-commerce, cyber security and other IT law topics.
• Draft legal documentation, negotiate data protection agreements, terms of service and other contracts.
• Participate in data privacy audits and prepare DP impact assessment reports.
• Develop and maintain productive client relationships and work effectively as a team member.
• Contribute to performance reviews, recruitment and staff development.
• Follow workplace policies and participate in educational programs.

Lawyer advises clients on a broad range of legal planning and advisory matters based on both deep in-country technical knowledge and law engagements. By accurately analyzing information and applying legal knowledge to client situations, Lawyer prepares effective approaches, legal opinions and lawsuit petitions in accordance with client’s circumstances.

Lawyer makes a technical contribution to client engagements and internal projects. In the same way, participating in researching legal issues, preparing written communications, helping clients with responses to law authorities and improving their law function are other significant mission statements that Lawyer should be responsible. Lawyer shall also review and look after the client files and ensure that all relevant communication/QRM reviews and approvals are present in the files.

We are seeking for a Senior Lawyer and Assistant Lawyer to join our EY Law Department in Istanbul with the following qualifications;

Your Key Responsibilities

Client responsibilities

• Advise the clients on Technology Law including data protection, AI, e-commerce, cyber security and other IT law related topics,
• Engage in data protection projects (KVKK & GDPR); draft legal documentation (privacy notices, policies, agreements, etc.) negotiate, and advise on data protection agreements, terms of service, and other contracts and communications, participate meetings
• Participate in e-commerce, data privacy audit engagements, prepare data protection impact assessment reports
• Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating team members on progress
• Assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel

People responsibilities

• Contribute to performance review and provide feedback for staff
• Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting and retaining Law professionals
• Participate in relevant educational programs to develop soft and technical skills
• Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
• Build strong internal relationships within Law and with other services across the organization.

What We Look For

• University degree in law from a reputable Turkish University,
• 1-3 years of full-time experience as an in-house lawyer or in a law firm focusing on corporate and compliance matters, with particular expertise in advising on data protection and privacy and related topics,
• Strong knowledge and experience in Data Protection Law (KVKK, GDPR, CCPA), AI, Cyber Security Law, Digital Law and Technology Law, Turkish Commercial Code and Code of Obligations,
• Having CIPP/E and ISO27701 certificates is an asset,
• A passion for Technology Law including data protection, AI, cyber security and working collaboratively with clients
• Fluency and high command in verbal and written Turkish and English,
• Able to communicate in multi-cultural business environment,
• Male candidates should have completed their military service
• Good command in MS Office
• Strong communication and inter-personal skills
• Lateral thinking/problem solving
• Ability to multi-tasking and teamwork
• Ability to priorities and work to tight deadlines and manage own caseload
