About the Position
The Budget, Reporting & Control unit, within the Directorate of Financial Affairs, is responsible for the preparation of the institution’s financial statements, management of the budgeting process, and accurate communication of financial information to senior management and external stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the Budget, Reporting & Control Manager, the Associate Manager will take an active role in the preparation of IFRS-based financial statements, the monthly closing cycle, annual budget consolidation, and monthly forecasting. The role brings together reporting, budgeting, and control, requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to understand the bigger financial picture.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibility. The “Associate Manager” title reflects the seniority of the role and the breadth of its responsibilities, with technical expertise, analytical thinking, and end-to-end ownership at its core.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Oversee the accurate and timely recording of all accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations. Continuously identify and drive opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in the month-end closing process, ensuring all accruals, deferrals, and adjustments are IFRS-compliant.
- Act as primary liaison during external and internal audits, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information, specifically focusing on IFRS compliance and reconciliation.
- Build and maintain 3-statement financial models in accordance with IFRS to support forecasting, scenario planning, and business decisions.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual budget in line with institutional policies and strategic objectives.
- Coordinate with relevant business units throughout the budgeting cycle, ensuring timely collection and alignment of budget inputs.
- Monitor and analyze budget-vs-actual variances on a regular basis; prepare explanatory reports and present findings.
- Participate in the reporting and audit processes required by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
- Prepare financial analysis and handling ad-hoc financial analysis requests for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Recommend process improvements and financial best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 4–5 years of total professional experience with 3–4 years of experience in Big 4 or similar audit firms.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory compliance. Proven ability to prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Proven capability in building complex financial models.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and stakeholder management skills
